What’s a Lottie? LottieFiles are animated illustrations… think of geometric shapes, abstract renderings of commonly used marketing messages ie, contact us, let’s work together, etc. and just about any type of image that comes to mind. The Lottie file format was actually created by Airbnb as a digital asset and eventually made available to developers and designers worldwide as an open source animation file format. Read more.
What’s so great about Lotties? For web designers, it’s a terrific tool for adding animation to a website with no fuss and no coding or technical expertise required. With the latest updates, Lotties are easier than ever to use as thousands of animations can be viewed and downloaded (and even edited, say you want to change a color or remove part of the illustration) in various web-friendly formats. Web page builders like Elementor have hopped on board and it’s now just about as easy to insert an animated illustration as adding an image to a website.
“Lottie animations go a long way in providing a fresh visual appeal.”
And I haven’t gotten to the best part yet… Lotties are completely free once you create an account. As we were redoing our website this year, we found a few Lotties that enhanced certain sections of our website, adding a dynamic quality that just isn’t available with static images. If you’ve checked out our site, you can see what I’m referring to. For non website designers, be on the lookout for further Lottie updates as well as the latest releases from your favorite Email Service Providers, Social Media channels and other digital services ramping up for Lottie integration.
